*"Show me where it says in the Bible that Jesus was born." It is one of the most common arguments brought forth by theists seeking to disprove all arguments for atheism. If you have never seen this debate before, then I would take a gander at any YouTube video that discusses it. Merely put, there are two rebuttals to this question. The first argument is simply stating that "the Bible doesn't say when Jesus was born." The second argument is in response to the first and states "in his life he was celebrating Christmas around Dec 25th around 2 BC. And then in 30 AD died on Good Friday. This is why most western cultures celebrate Christmas around Dec 25th. This also proves Jesus never existed at all." The Qur'an does not give a date for when it was revealed, but the Hadith suggests April 6, 609 AD. However, no one can prove or disprove when it was made either way. A small amount of people believe that the Qur'an was revealed to Muhammed by an angel that had nothing to do with Allah. This is supported by the fact that there are many differences between the Qur'an and the Hadith as well as other sources. There are three main sources for these different stories: the Quran, the Hadith, and Sira (the biography of Muhammad). The difference between these three sources is vast. The Hadith is not dependable since it was just a collection of sayings between people who had no idea what they were saying. The Sira was written by a man who spent a tremendous time with Muhammad however there were still large differences between his biography and what Muhammad seemed to be like. The Quran seemed to have been written down later on for many reasons. First, the Qur'an is a collection of texts which were written down years later then being handed down orally. Second, the Quran has been around for over a thousand years with little to no changes. In comparison, the Hadith has been revised so many times, it is hard to know who recorded the first one and who recorded the current one. Since there are so many different sources for each of these different facts and stories, we can't know for sure that any of them (the Quran or the Hadith) are true or not true. Since they aren't reliable pieces of evidence we can't use them to prove that Jesus existed. The earliest manuscripts of the Qur'an date from the late seventh century. However, there are many references in the Hadith to both Jewish and Christian traditions that postdate Muhammad. The story of Jesus in Sura Al-Imran that mentions an appearance in a vision to a named disciple also refers to a further discussion with a second disciple named "Judas", whose name is not used in the Gospels but is mentioned in Acts. Islamic scholars claim that it is reasonable to assume that Judas was added to avoid confusion between this disciple and Judas Iscariot. The Sura also refers to Mary, the Mother of Jesus by name although she is never mentioned by name in the New Testament. cfa1e77820
